Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) carefully before using the Homework Habit™, Citizenship Score™, or Peer-to-Peer Planner™ websites, mobile applications, or related services (“Services”) operated by HS Software (“we,” “us,” “our”). By accessing or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use our Services.
1. Overview of Services
Homework Habit™ is a web-based service designed to help students build consistent homework routines through peer-based alerts, personalized reminders, academic forecasting, and motivation tools. Citizenship Score™ helps students track participation in social, civic, and academic activities to build a well-rounded personal profile and receive a calculated annual score.
Both services include free and optional paid features, some of which may require consent from a parent, school, or guardian.
2. Who Can Use Our Services
- Our Services are intended for students aged 13 and older. Users under 13 must have verified parental consent to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
- Parents/Guardians may create accounts to support and monitor their children’s progress.
- Educators/Schools may enter into agreements on behalf of student users under FERPA.
- By using our Services, you affirm you are legally permitted to do so under applicable laws.
3. User Responsibilities
By using our Services, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information.
- Use the Services only for lawful, educational, or family-support purposes.
- Keep account credentials secure and notify us of any unauthorized access.
- Not disrupt or interfere with other users or our system operations.
4. Data Usage & Compliance
We handle all student data in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Student Online Personal Information Protection Act (SOPIPA), and other relevant state and federal laws. This includes:
- Collecting only the data necessary to provide educational support.
- Never selling student data or using it for targeted advertising.
- Providing schools and parents with the ability to review, amend, or delete personal data.

5. Subscription and Billing
Most features are free. However, we offer Premium plans for additional benefits such as:
- Personalized weekly progress reports
- Additional start/reminder alerts for parents
- Access to skills videos and planning features
Pricing: $50 per school year (This is the 1.0 Beta version, there are no fees or charges for using the software at this time. The 2025-26 school year is completely free of charge.)
Subscriptions are optional, non-refundable once activated, and may be canceled at any time before renewal.
6. Intellectual Property
All content, designs, trademarks, and features of the Services are owned by HS Software and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You may not reproduce, reverse-engineer, or commercially exploit our content without permission.
Please note, data used in this 1.0 Beta version, and other versions, may be supplemented by surveys and other data in order to round out the necessary information. As additional historic and other data becomes available, the current information will be updated and refined. Thank you for your help and comments.
7. Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that:
- Violate these Terms
- Attempt to misuse or manipulate the Services
- Create harm or disruption to other users
You may terminate your account at any time. Data will be deleted upon request in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
8. Disclaimers
While we work hard to ensure accurate forecasts and reminders, our Services are educational tools and do not guarantee academic performance or grade outcomes. Use is at your own discretion.
9. Points and Rewards Disclaimer
Homework Habit offers a points-based motivational system. These points hold no inherent cash value and are not redeemable for currency, goods, or services from Homework Habit. Any monetary exchange tied to points is entirely a private arrangement and the responsibility of the parent or guardian. Homework Habit assumes no liability or responsibility for payments promised or made between users.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Services. Our total liability will not exceed the amount paid by you in the last 12 months, if any.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
